· WHO? Russell Burton, age 49, married for 26 years to Julie having met at Oxford in 1975. We have four daughters aged 19, 16, 14 and 10. We have lived in and around Basingstoke for twenty years. I worked for Lloyds Bank for twenty three years until May 2000 when I became a house husband and Julie returned full time to work as a solicitor. · WHY? Our eldest daughter, Catherine, has Down's Syndrome and started a three year course at Queen Mary's College, Basingstoke in September 2002. Doing challenges such as the China Bike Ride raises much needed funds to support Mencap.
· WHAT? The challenge organised by Mencap involves a five day bike ride over 395 kms of mountainous terrain following parts of the Great Wall to the north and west of Beijing. |
